haha omg thank you so much! and yes; i wanted this essay to be conversational - not only for you to tell critics a fact that they might not know about themselves - but also just for everybody to read and say to themselves. I tell myself “i have a seam down my nuttsack” - like its a daily affirmation - it makes me feel connected to the human condition. Education and empathy are the way forward. thank you so much for reading and sharing and commenting - i really appreciate you!!
I gave a dramatic reading of this to a friend, they were delighted by it. They went on to explain there are other vestiges, you still carry the channels, the canals where your ovaries descend in the newly encapsulated labia to for your testes. Your body, my body, all at body’s carry the “scars” and proof of how we change and grow.
I am so honored!!! thank you so much for doing a dramatic reading!!! i think that is just the coolest!!! and your friend is so right. i mean, the proof is in the pudding lol… and i totally agree with you about how there are other vestiges; i like being brief and to the point, i definitely don’t have the ability to be overly scientific; i also left out that we have so many left over mammary glands that cis men’s breast cancer rates are a very real thing. and then to zoom people out, i like to bring up, if you x-ray a whale they don’t have fins, they have knees and legs and ankles and things that used to be feet. big ass elephants just walked into the ocean one day and was like, “i’m not getting back outta the tub…” I also didn’t even want to bring up there is a spot of developmental time when humans have tails in the womb… don’t wanna throw too many new concepts at people that are just now learning about their seam down their nuttsack… Thanks again for sharing and reading my writing- I really appreciate you & your friend!!!

I have a seam that goes down my nutsack too. It masks the scar from when the doctor took my nuts out because I'm a trans woman and I wanted them gone...

I would like to add that in the evolutionary scope, male and female differences are minor. We share every tissue. Overies and testicles are modifications of the same organ.
The Y chromosome, is a genetic mutation of an X chromosome. XX shouldn't get to comfortable, the X chromosome is a mutation of a no-sex chromosome.

I always thought about everyone as ‘the same’ especially in the face of racism- if you have an accident and you need O+ blood, you dont need O+ blood from a man, or a woman or a white man or a white woman - you just need O+ blood. I remember thinking - ‘if we can change blood and organs and tissue, as long as a few minor markers match up, then indeed, racism is a social construct not based on science, just for the fact that we can change parts.’ And you just linked that thought to sexism and transphobia - i really appreciate that!
